BPI Mobile Key – your key to secure online banking transactions

Remember the post I made a few weeks back regarding this pioneer bank about to roll out a new security feature?

Well… the news is finally out!

The BPI Mobile Key is the newest security feature of BPI’s online and mobile banking platforms. A first in local banking, BPI’s Mobile Key authentication tool is a secure and personalized alternative to the One-Time PIN (OTP), which is sent to your mobile phone number. What’s good about this is you can transfer money or pay bills while traveling abroad even without a mobile network!!!

3 reasons why the BPI Mobile Key is so great

Let me share here the three reasons why you should activate this latest security feature now.

1.  It’s fast and convenient.

With Mobile Key, you can easily confirm your transaction with just a 6-digit nominated PIN, or your fingerprint. This means you only have to remember and secure this PIN for all your transactions, or opt to do the authentication with the fingerprint ID registered in your device.

2.  You can authenticate transactions even without a mobile network.

No need to worry about not receiving your OTP via SMS. With your Mobile Key, you can still do your online transactions even when you’re in a place outside your telco provider’s coverage area, such as abroad, as long as you have a stable and safe internet connection.

3.  Ensure your transactions are secure.

Mobile Key gives you the peace of mind knowing that you have a convenient way to ensure that all your transactions are authorized.

Enjoy this new functionality of the BPI Mobile app now. Just go to “Account Maintenance – Authentication” and toggle the Mobile Key button. Nominate a 6-digit PIN code and confirm this action by entering the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. Once activated, you will be asked whether you want to activate Touch ID – or your fingerprint ID – as an alternative to the 6-digit PIN.

This is just one of the security features that help protect your account. You now have the option to use your Mobile Key, or continue to receive OTP to authenticate your transactions.

Enable your Mobile Key. It’s Easy!

You can enable your Mobile Key on your BPI Mobile App. Here’s how.

Go to “Account Maintenance”
Click “Authentication”
Toggle the “Mobile Key” switch
Nominate a 6-digit PIN Code
Confirm by entering the OTP sent to your mobile number
You can also enable Touch ID, Fingerprint or Face ID (Depending on your phone’s capabilities)

BPI’s Mobile Key is perfect for travelers like me doing online banking transactions while abroad and won’t be able to receive OTPs sent via SMS! That’s what I call online transactions made easy, convenient and hassle-free but still secure!
