Whenever I get invited for staycations, whether solo or with family, I always check if there’s an in-house restaurant worth featuring. Hey, I’m a food blogger after all, right? *wink*
So, during my recent staycation at Winford Hotel and Casino in Manila, I was happy to learn that they have notable restaurants that can make one’s tummy happy. I am positive it will make yours, too.
Copa de Manila
If you are craving for Filipino or Spanish cuisine, head over to Copa de Manila.
We tried a couple of their offerings and were delightfully pleased. This is where breakfast is served also.
Gambas al Ajillo
Gambas is one of the popular tapas in Spain and it is just fitting that this dish is served here. Using only 3 ingredients – shrimps, olive oil and garlic, it is the perfect appetizer to whet one’s appetite. This also deserves to be partnered with garlic rice so make sure to pour the sauce over your steaming rice.
Bacalao ala Vizcaina
I remember my dad’s sister, Tita Elvie, whenever I see Bacalao on the menu. She makes one really mean Bacalao dish! But upon tasting Copa de Manila’s version of it, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it comes really close to the kind of Bacalao that I have grown to love. It’s not as numbingly salty as salt cod is known for and the crushed tomatoes, chopped garlic and olives offer the dish different beautiful textures. You see the crostinis? Dip them in the sauce and indulge! Delicioso!

Choi Garden
If you’re looking for some good dim sum, noodles or roasted dishes, Choi Garden is most definitely for you! Choi Garden in Annapolis, Greenhills has consistently gotten pretty good raves from people I know, with praises of great quality food and decent pricings. So, you can expect the same top notch offerings in their branch at Winford Hotel and Casino.
Roast Duck
This pricey delicacy has beautiful thin, crispy skin that breaks like glass in every bite. The deliciously juicy meat with an nice lining of fat makes for a wonderful dining experience. Perfect and uncomplicated. It offers an honest to goodness old school flavor that will surely please you.
Salted Egg Yolk Pao
The warm and sweet-salty golden custard filling inside this soft bun will make you come back for seconds — and thirds! The salted egg yolk’s texture gives this dish amazing character. Seriously, don’t miss this specialty.
Abalone Sauce Efu Noodles
The photo of this dish doesn’t do justice to just how good this specialty is. It’s not your typical noodles that’s loaded with ingredients. This one just has strips of char siu with a nice and thick abalone sauce that coats the noodles. We ordered this during dinner on our first and second nights… Need I explain more?
Dim Sum
Hakao, Xiao Long Bao and Kuchay Dumpling
If you don’t want to leave your room, you can always go for room service.
Want to go malling during your stay? No problem. Winford Hotel and Casino offers free roundtrip shuttle service to Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo which we took advantage of.
UCC afternoon snacks
We had our afternoon snack at UCC Cafe.
Instead of ordering coffee at UCC, we sampled their pasta, sandwiches and cold-pressed juices for a change. They were all good!
N.Y. Deli Fresh Corned Beef
Garlic Pepper Chorizo
Crispy Wings
Evergreen (220kcal) (green) – Grapes, cucumber, apple and spinach & Juicy Lucy (260kcal) (orange) – Apple, carrot and lemon
So, did we enjoy our Winford Hotel and Casino? Without a doubt! Were we satisfied with the service? Absolutely! Do we plan to come back again very soon? Most definitely!
