Guess what? I’ve never tried using contact lens ever! Even if I want to, I am just afraid to put anything foreign on my eyes because I feel like I might damage them by accident. So even if my friends use contact lenses and I find it really cool, I just have to pass. But not my daughter!
My daughter Isabella started wearing specs at an early age and eventually found it really annoying since she usually couldn’t dress up the way she wanted to with eyeglasses ruining her style. It has also restricted her choice of sports and physical activities. So, when she approached me and my husband and expressed her desire to try contact lenses, as hesitant as we were at first, we knew it was the right thing to do.
It was early this year when she tried out her first pair of contact lenses. She didn’t have a hard time learning how to put them on the first time. I actually video recorded the very first time she tried them with the help of her doctor. Check out how much of an eager beaver our teen was.
But we knew early on that something as delicate and fragile as one’s eyes shouldn’t be left using untrusted and unreliable brands. That’s why when we opted to get Air Optix Aqua by Alcon, it made the experience much better and easier for our daughter. Likewise, it gives us much needed peace of mind.
Air Optix by Alcon – Because not all contact lenses are created equal
Air Optix Aqua by Alcon is made of proprietary silicone hydrogel material that allows oxygen to pass through the lens making it breathable. You can choose between the clear lenses and the colored ones. Upon first opening the blister pack and first use, it is recommended to not exceed 30 days to avoid infection and discomfort.
It’s easy to put on, remove and store.
Another brand that is as good as Air Optix Aqua by Alcon is Freshlook which can also be used everyday. This brand is designed to give your eyes another shade of your preferred color that blends naturally with your eyes. You can choose from an assortment of colors that can match your clothes. If you use the “Dailies” lens, keep in mind that these are disposable and good for one day use only. That means you should discard it right after using.
I asked my 14 year old daughter about her thoughts on using contact lenses. Maybe this can help out teens who want to try it out as well but are yet unsure.
My daughter’s thoughts on contact lenses
1. What made you decide to wear contact lenses?
Isabella: The reason I decided to wear contact lenses was because there are certain things I cannot do with glasses on which I can do with contact lenses instead.
2. Why did you choose to wear contact lenses over specs?
Isabella: I like wearing contact lenses more than glasses, because wearing glasses has started to become a hassle when it comes to dressing up and engaging in sports.
3. Are you comfortable wearing contact lenses?
Isabella: Yes, I am comfortable wearing contact lens, because Air Optics Aqua makes it easier for me to wear contacts throughout the entire day since they feel incredibly light. It’s almost as if I’m not wearing anything at all!
4. Would you recommend wearing contact lenses to girls your age?
Isabella: I recommend girls my age to wear contact lenses as long as they are already responsible enough to take care of them every single day. Because if they’re not responsible enough, they might damage their pair of contact lenses, as well as their eyes.
Let me show you a video on how to take care of your contact lenses by the newest Air Optix and Freshlook Ambassadors Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes.
There are many ways to take care of one’s eyes. This includes common sense, eating right and being conscious enough to know when you’re already abusing yourself. Also, it is vital to use a trusted brand such as Air Optix by Alcon and Freshlook.
My daughter is more confident now and can dress up the way she wants.
She can even wear sunglasses now. What a huge difference contact lenses make.
