It’s been years since I last visited Hong Kong. So, saying that I was excited to be back would be an understatement.
Going to Hong Kong via AirAsia, as always, was a delightful experience. Not to mention they also serve tasty and tummy-filling in-flight meals. You can choose from an assortment of hot meals to quick bites. To keep my stomach from grumbling during the flight, I got Kani Sandwich, Doritos and Coke – simply called the Pacquiao 3-Punch Combo! Hunger solved!
If you are looking for affordable fares going to Hong Kong, AirAsia is your best bet! Not only will you save more, but you also get to experience the wonderful service that I, together with countless other AirAsia patrons, have been experiencing.
After a pleasant flight which lasted 2-hours, we landed safely at Hong Kong International Airport. We were then picked up by our shuttle to take us to L’hotel Island South where we were billeted for 3 days.
A wonderful experience at L’hotel Island South
L’hotel Island South presents itself as a modern and chic hotel. It actually reminds me of some boutique hotels we have here in Manila.
The hotel lobby has a modern minimalist style.
Clean and simple.
For those who are wondering, L’hotel Island South is located at Hong Kong’s southern district (about 45 minutes away from HKIA).
The closest prime attraction from L’hotel Island South would be Ocean Park Hong Kong which is a little less than 10 minutes away. The hotel provides free shuttle service which you can take advantage of especially if you have little ones in tow. If you are in the mood for some walking, it is about 15 minutes away from the hotel.
PLACES OF INTEREST
If you want to go shopping but don’t want to go far, Causeway Bay is just 10 minutes away from L’hotel Island South by taxi cab. There are chockful of stores, stalls and even a wide selection of restaurants to choose from.
If you want to check out the financial district, hop on L’hotel Island South’s shuttle service and hop off at ifc mall Central. We strolled along the streets of Central at 9PM when stores have already closed.
There was nothing left to do anymore except to take some fun photos.
One of the most recognizable structure in the area is the Bank Of China Tower that looks stunning at night! It is the “crissed-crossed” building.
We just positioned ourselves near Pier 7 Cafe & Bar and along the pedestrian overpass, whipped out our smartphones and shot the night away!

We were given a City View Room with this (see photo) as our backdrop.
Surprisingly, L’hotel Island South’s room is spacious compared to most other hotels in Hong Kong. If memory serves me right, the last hotel I stayed at over at the Kowloon side was smaller than this.
Our room has all the basic amenities one would need. But what I like most about this room is the modern see-through bathroom with a huge illuminated mirror! Perfect!
- Complimentary wired and Wi-Fi internet access
- Cable and satellite TV channels
- Mini Bar, refrigerator, kettle and coffee & tea making facilities
- Digital hotel directory services, in-room dining menu, “pillow pick” menu, etc.
- In-room safe
You may also book the Aqua Room, Aqua Suite or the Grand Aqua Suite which overlooks Ocean Park Hong Kong. This is ideal if you are traveling with kids who love looking out the window.
L’hotel Island South has all-day dining wherein you can enjoy the freshest catch of the day. LIS features an array of fresh seafood at their buffet which makes perfect sense because Aberdeen is surrounded by fishing ports.
Sample some of their delectable and mouthwatering dishes like this Suckling Pig!
Tender, succulent, paper-thin skin that breaks like glass, salty and fatty! Deadly but crazy gooood! I still dream about this every now and then. Seriously, it was that delicious!
LIS Cafe also serves satisfying and healthy breakfast options. But of course they aren’t limited to what I had! They have Asian and international cuisines, too.
