Just recently, the Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Palawan Government headed by Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez, Palawan Tourism Council President Ms. Deborah Tan and AirAsia Philippines CEO Atty. Joy Cañeba took place last March 4, 2015 at the Palawan Provincial Capitol.
The “World’s Best Island” campaign
The Memorandum of Agreement is a partnership to boost Palawan’s “World’s Best Island” campaign. For those not aware, Palawan recently bagged the title from Conde Nast Traveler’s Reader’s Choice Award as 2014’s World’s Best Island.
The “World’s Best Island” campaign and partnership between different sectors is to help boost Palawan’s tourism more and to bring in local and foreign tourists alike. The campaign is looking to generate 1.4 million tourist arrivals by 2016.
We all know that Palawan has been called the Philippines’ Last Ecological Frontier – home of the last remaining tropical rain forests in the country. And with so many breathtaking tourist spots, fun activities and favorable weather, no doubt, Palawan will be able to easily reach their target!
Palawan Governor Jose Alvarez is hands on in the transformation and improvement of the province, wanting to give every tourist an unforgettable experience when visiting the World’s Best Island.

The Signing of the Memorandum Of Agreement was also witnessed by USAID-COMPETE, a few individuals from the private sector as well as personalities from online and print media.
