Discovery Suites does not only boast of well-appointed rooms. They also offer a spectacular dining experience by way of their very popular restaurant – 22 Prime, which specializes in superb steak dishes among others.
During our staycation at the Discovery Suites , a romantic dinner at 22 Prime was arranged for me and my husband.
22 Prime, located on the 22nd Floor of the Discovery Suites, offers a casual yet elegant dining experience.
When we were ushered to the corner of the room where our table was beautifully set-up, it felt like we were celebrating our anniversary. The corner area of this place offers a beautiful view of the city skyline.
But, I am quite confident that their magnificent view isn’t the only thing that 22 Prime boasts of. So, without much ado… here are the incredible dishes that Executive Chef Gerwin Bailon prepared for us!
A taste of 22 Prime
For starters, a refreshing cucumber drink was served to welcome us and a bread basket with 3 kinds of spread.
Assorted Spreads: Herbed Butter, Feta Cheese in Olive Oil and Sundried Tomato.
Next was the Salmon Croquette with Japanese Mayo.
The croquette has a nice crunch and warm filling making you wish the glass had more of it.
For soup, I had the Lobster Bisque while the hubby went for the Cream of Mushroom
Creamy and sweet with fresh lobster bits, micro greens and toasted herb croutons.
Cream of Mushroom with Truffle Foam
The truffle foam added a beautiful aroma and taste to a simple Cream of Mushroom soup.
Since 22 Prime takes pride in its lineup of specialty steaks, we both decided to go for “Surf and Turf” for our mains.
The heart of the steak should be red with a nice crust on the outside and I’m just so happy that this 200-gram juicy, flavorful and perfectly grilled Angus Ribeye Steak was exactly that. It absolutely made my night!
It came with 2 kinds of gravy that we actually didn’t have to touch. The steak did not need any gravy at all. The jumbo prawns were cooked beautifully, too! It came with Twice-Baked Potatoes and Grilled Tagaytay Vegetables.
Upon serving of the steak, you also get to choose the kind of steak knife you prefer.
We also had a bottle of red Peppercorn Lane Shiraz.
Wine should not take away the flavor of the food but rather enhance a dish’s taste. The Peppercorn Lane Shiraz was the perfect red wine for my steak!
As they say, always leave room for dessert!
The cashew graham crust is the key to this divine Mango Cheesecake! The sweetness of the sliced mangoes with just a tad of acidity gave this dessert the perfect flavorful touch on a plain cheesecake. What a sweet ending!
We also tried 22 Prime’s signature dessert – Chocolate Marquise.
Soft Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla English Cream and Pistachio bits topped with Vanilla Ice Cream. Resistance is futile… I had no choice but to give in!
Indeed, 22 Prime offers the ultimate in dining pleasure! Thank you 22 Prime for a sweet and memorable dinner to complete our wonderful staycation!
22 Prime is consistently listed in Philippine Tatler’s MANILA’S BEST RESTAURANTS (2008 – 2011). In 2010, the establishement was listed as one of Asia’s finest restaurants in the MIELE GUIDE.
