I love Japanese food. You love Japanese food. Everybody loves Japanese food! So, check out this 2 new Japanese places along Jupiter St., Makati!
Misono Teppanyaki and Yakitori Daitokyo are Robert Yupangco‘s new babies that soft-opened last March 17. They serve tasteful and delightful Japanese dishes that won’t make a dent on your budget.
Misono Teppanyaki is a modern and organic Japanese restaurant with Lettuce Hydroponics. These lettuces are naturally grown by them and is available for consumption. They use the lettuce for their salads and you can customize your own salad, too! Just request from the staff and they will gladly get some from the hydroponic just for an additional Php50.00. Cool, right? And for every Php1,000 worth, you get free one cup of lettuce from their garden that you can actually take home.
Yakitori Daitokyo (located right beside it), on the otherhand, offers authentic Japanese Barbeque that’s priced really affordable also.
If you want to have a taste of both worlds, by all means, order from both restaurants.
The head chef trained in Japan for 3 months to learn the right techniques and proper handling in making Japanese cooking. You are assured of well-prepared, quality fare.
Here are some of the offerings from Misono Teppanyaki and Yakitori Daitokyo:
Spicy Salmon Salad (Php329.00)
Feast of colors on my plate with fresh and crisp lettuce from their Lettuce Hydroponic. The spicyness doesn’t overwhelm but it’s most definitely there and just enough to tickle your tastebuds. You can interchange the salad’s main ingredient between salmon and tuna.
Misono Special Roll (Php595.00/8 pcs.)
There’s kani, unagi and ebiko all rolled into one which tastes absolutely delicious! The slight crunch gave it that nice character, too! This dish has star quality!
Crazy Cheese Maki (Php320.00)
Savory and cheesy! Just kani, cheese and mayo. Kids will enjoy eating this!
Mixed Vegetables (Php79.00)
The veggies were cooked wonderfully retaining the crunch and its natural flavors. A bit salty, slightly bitter and umami. Yum!
Ebi Tempura (Php399.00/5 pcs.)
Wonderfully fried tempura with just the right sized shrimps. It may be fried but it doesn’t have the cloying feel of fried food.
Fish of God (Php99.00)
Visually, this dish has that wow factor! But it’s just your plain ol’ fried tilapia. Tilapia is not really exciting by itself that’s why it comes with its own special sauce which you drizzle on it. That’s when this dish changed character. When you order this, partner it with Misono’s Chahan. Perfect combo!
Beef Teppan (Php299.00)
Thinly sliced beef that’s smart seasoned all the way through. Another perfect pair for chahan.
We also sampled some from Yakitori – Negima, Aspara Maki and Enoki Bacon Yakitori
We ended our delicious meal with this heavenly Misono Yogurt with Honeydew.
The slight tangy flavor from the yogurt and the sweetness from the honeydew were a great combination.
This portion at Misono is where you can see what’s actually happening inside the kitchen. The glass partition prevents the smell of the kitchen from coming out to the dining area. On my next visit, I will sit here.
They also serve wine by the bottle or by the glass should you feel the need to have some during your meal.
Both Misono Teppanyaki and Yakitori Daitokyo have nice and wonderful staff and servers. Everybody’s just friendly! And the interiors of the place bring out Mr. Yupangco’s love for nature. He personally decorated the entire place.
With the gracious owner Robert Yupangco.
TRIVIA: They directly import their beef from Japan. Also, Mr. Yupangco owns a farm where most of their ingredients come from. No wonder their prices are very affordable. Another one, during the establishment’s opening, the famous band “Abba Mania” graced Misono Teppanyaki and Yakitori Daitokyo.
