Kids summer vacation has finally started and what better way to take advantage of this 2 month vacation than to go on a trip out of town or out of the country. Too tedious for you? Then why not have an amazing staycation nearby.
Staycations are something I look forward to every now and then. Somewhere close where driving (and petrol expenses) won’t be a concern.
There are many options nowadays… like Hotel Celeste. This modern and gorgeous boutique hotel is located right smack in the middle of Makati CBD that’s in close proximity to big shopping malls and food establishments in the country.
Although, they do not have any amenities to offer, they do have an impressive Roof Deck. It’s the perfect spot where one can relax, unwind and enjoy the cool breeze in the evening while overlooking Makati and having your favorite cocktail drink.
Just last week, we were able to stay at Hotel Celeste for one night. Since it’s just close to where we live, I didn’t have to overpack like what I usually do during other overnight getaways. But, my kids made sure to bring some board/card games so that we all can play a few fun rounds during downtime.
Since Hotel Celeste has limited parking area, upon arrival, the valet attendant approached us immediately. Unloading of bags was a breeze as the bellboy was pretty snappy.
We were welcomed by Che Anne Lopez of the Sales and Marketing Team and led us to Lucia Ristorante for our late lunch right away.
Lucia Ristorante is nothing new to us. We were present during the establishment’s launch and it was also where we celebrated my husband’s birthday last year. More or less, we already knew what to order.
We were all given a tall glass of Cucumber Celery Lemonada as our welcome drinks. The summer heat was intense that day and this refreshing summer drink was restorative as it was delicious. The combination of sweet and tart-y flavors all blended together.
For our main course, our favorite lunch selections were still available.
Right after lunch, we were immediately whisked to our SUITE named after a French Queen – “Marie Antoinette”.
Our suite had an intricate and stylish design in a subtle modern Euro setting. It had a unique charm to it. Very spacious, too.
The bedroom was beautifully designed, clean and comfy. If you want to have a bit of privacy, a curtain divides the bedroom and the receiving area. This is the view from the bed. It would be nice if they used a bigger TV to match the size of the room, though.
Hotel Celeste does know how to make a guest feel special. 2 bags were waiting for us on top of our bed with wonderful treats in beautiful packaging for the entire family!
Apart from the welcome drink, we were also accorded additional privileges:
1. Welcome foot and leg massage (which I wasn’t able to avail. Sigh!)
2. One (1) time consumable Mini Bar (from drinks, chocolates to cookies)
4. Hosted lunch and dinner at Lucia Ristorante.
This type of room is not something you would normally see in big hotel chains. The owners of Hotel Celeste were hands-on in interior decorating the establishment with ideas and concepts from different places they’ve been to. True to Hotel Celeste’s promise, each room is stylish and has a style of its own.
Hotel Celeste only has 30 rooms. 5 of which are suites named after French Queens.
For dinner, we opted to have room service for a change. We wanted to make the most of Hotel Celeste’s beautiful suite. The waiter from Lucia Ristorante brought the menu into our room and after 15 minutes, our orders were ready!
Tagliatelle Alla Carbonara
How can one go wrong with carbonara and pancetta? The home made tagliatelle was cooked al dente and it complimented the amazing sauce.
Al dente noodles using only the freshest catch in one plate!
Dentice Alla Pugliesi
Or Roasted Red Snapper with Pancetta and Broccoli. I went ga-ga over this dish! The pancetta was sandwiched in between the snapper and potatoes. It also had a nice crispy and flaky skin that adds an amazing character to the entire dish.
Bistecca Di Manzo
Nice cut and lightly seasoned beef tenderloin in olive oil and rosemary with truffle cream sauce. The scalloped potatoes went perfectly well with the earthy flavor of the truffle sauce. It balances out everything.
After dinner, our kids cleaned and set-up the table for a quick game night. They took out the canister of The Game Of Scattergories. We had so much fun that our game lasted until almost 2am! Now that’s family bonding!
You choose a particular main course from the menu and the other breakfast offerings are spread on the buffet table. For a boutique hotel, I didn’t really expect a wide array of offerings. They have coffee, milk, juices, assorted cold cuts, cheese, bread, cereal, yogurt, salad and fresh fruits. Since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, they cover the basics to jumpstart your day.
