Whenever I want to reward myself after a long tiring day or to just simply make myself smile, I whip-up something special. Sometimes I opt to dine out instead and spare myself the tedious work. I permit myself to indulge pig-out. Occasional gluttony won’t hurt and the calorie overload every so often will not dent the figure. Haha!
Here are a few of my favorite comfort foods…
Baked Beans. My husband’s comfort food which I learned to enjoy eating. Perfect for rainy weather. It is my mother-in-law’s recipe which I inherited, by the way. (I will be posting the recipe soon.)
Balsamic Chicken Adobo which I always pair with a ripe banana. I love how the sourness of the Adobo sauce contrasts the sweetness of the banana.
Beef Angus Tapa from Las Paellas
Salmon Nigiri from Omakase
Ravioli Al Funghi from Parmigiano with chunky wild mushrooms in open-faced ravioli in cream sauce topped with grilled tomato.
Wholemeal Roti Paratha that I normally hoard in the supermarket whenever I find them. (Fry. Spread a little butter. Sprinkle with sugar. Eat!)
Peach Walnut Cake which my chef friend bakes. Not too sweet yet enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. It has generous amounts of walnuts, too.
And of course Kittin’s Scarlet Cake from Cookbook Kitchen!
