How to renew your PASSPORT

My last passport renewal was back in 2006 when they were still issuing out the green kind.

I actually forgot that my passport was scheduled to expire last June of this year. I immediately booked an appointment online together with my husband’s passport.

Anyways, should you need to renew yours, you will find the information below very useful.

Click the link below to schedule appointment and to see information regarding documentary requirements:

The earliest available schedule we got for renewal was August 8, 2011.

Since I had 2 months to wait, I had ample time to prepare the needed documents for the renewal.

Requirements for Passport Renewal:

Green Passport or issued after 01 May 1995

  • Present passport and photocopy of inside and back cover.
  • The pages showing latest Bureau of Immigration departure and arrival stamps.

DFA also offers Family Applications to allow you and your family members to be scheduled at the same time. You may click here for the Family Application Form.

You will also receive an e-mail notification of your Appointment Date/s. Click the link provided in the e-mail to confirm your appointment within 24-hours. Ignoring the 24-hour confirmation window will automatically cancel your schedule. Print your application form/s using long bond paper. Do not sign the application form. You need to sign it in the presence of a DFA officer in the processing window. Please make sure you arrive at the DFA 30-minutes before your schedule. Remember to bring your application form/s with you during your appointment date as well as the first page of the application form. See sample below:

Application Reminders

If you can’t make it on your scheduled date, here is a Cancel Application Form online which you can use at least 1 week before your appointment date to avoid problems. You can also call 737 1000.

On the day itself, we arrived 30-minutes before our schedule. Reminder: Please open your bags upon entering the gate for inspection to avoid unnecessary delays.

We were led to the waiting area. I was shocked to see the long queue. I kind of expected how freakishly long and discouraging the wait was going to be knowing how impossible government processes can be sometimes.

By the way, make sure your stomach is full because the waiting can be long and they do not allow food and drinks inside. You may bring candies. If you love to tweet and update your Facebook status while waiting, make sure your mobile batteries are fully charged or that you have a spare one because your power supply will be severely tested (if not, eventually depleted).

Waiting Area

The image below was shot at the Cashier area on the 2nd floor. This is the same place where your passport photo will be taken.

There are a few guidelines to be followed for photo capturing. Please refer to this link:
