When a friend you’ve known for so long suddenly starts pursuing an activity (hobby) that you can’t ever imagine she would be doing, what do you do? Well, apart from almost slapping my face in disbelief, I gave her my support, naturally. 😉
You see, my good friend Pia Dailo, decided to make cupcakes during her free time and eventually decided to turn it into a business. It’s really funny because when I first saw her cupcakes on Facebook, it got me laughing and I was really dumbfounded. But as they say, don’t knock it ‘til you try it.
And so, try, I did.
Chocolate Coffee Cupcake with Dark Chocolate Ganache (Php280 6pcs.)
To be honest, I am really not a fan of chocolate, moreso the plain ones since I easily get that cloying feeling which easily overwhelms me. But this one is good! It has coffee in it that isn’t overpowering and delightfully enhances the overall flavor of the cupcake.
I also like how Pia makes her ganache which is not overly sweet and the consistency is just right. Plus points that it didn’t even melt. It was still sitting beautifully on top of the cupcake even though the weather was a bit warm that particular time.
Chocolate-Coffee Cupcake with White Chocolate Ganache (Php280 6pcs.)
This flavor stood out for me, considering that the base is still chocolate. The white chocolate ganache pleasantly contrasts the chocolate cupcake itself. It’s deliciously light and moist with a great mouthfeel.
I read in an article before that if you have good icing, even the most boring cake will turn into something special. But in Pia’s case, you get the best of both worlds — delicious cupcakes and fantastic frosting!
You may think this is a biased review considering that Pia is a friend… and that’s understandable. So, don’t just take my word for it. Try them out yourselves and be happily delighted by her delicious cupcakes. I can’t wait to sample her other new delectable creations soon!
