Last year, I had the privilege to be part of the 2nd AirAsia Bloggers Community 2015 that was held in Bangkok, Thailand. This annual gathering is an AirAsia initiated event wherein bloggers from different sectors where AirAsia flies, come together to bond and build camaraderie.
For the 3rd AirAsia Bloggers Community (AABC) in Jakarta, I had the privilege to join once again, but this time not as a blogger, but as part of the AirAsia Communications Team. Woah! Talk about some big shoes to fill.
During this particular event, I was tasked to assist the media from the Philippines delegation and make sure they are properly assisted and well taken care of. Luckily, the bloggers that were part of the Philippine entourage were my friends – Mae of When in Manila and Melo of Out Of Town Blog. Also part of the entourage was Ayen of Where To Next.
So, off to Jakarta we went taking advantage of AirAsia’s Fly-Thru from Manila – Kuala Lumpur just like what we did at last year’s AABC.
Of course, apart from the event, what excites me as well is AirAsia’s in-flight meal which never fails to excite me. I had Chicken Rice on our way to Kuala Lumpur.
Ok, let’s talk about AABC.
Hello AABC 2016!
Indonesia AirAsia prepared a fun string of activities for the bloggers and influencers. To start off, we had a welcome dinner which was a great opportunity to meet other bloggers/influencers from other countries. The dishes served during this dinner were all AirAsia inflight meals.
Next, introducing the groups.
Attendees were segregated into different groups, allowing ourselves to be mixed with participants of other countries.
I was assigned to be part of “Team Betawi” (or Native Jakartans). Our team was comprised of a good mix of different individuals namely, Dhempe from India, Suci Utami from Indonesia, Elana Khong from Malaysia, Kurapak from Brunei, Atre from Indonesia, Hong of AirAsia Group Communications and yours truly of Philippines AirAsia.
Teams were tasked to participate in an “Amazing Race” type challenge. Each group were assigned 1 or 2 AirAsia Communications personnel to oversee things. This particular activity was meant in order for guests/participants to be able to discover the Old Town (Kota Tua) of Jakarta while having fun at the same time — the AirAsia way!
And we’re off!
There are 6 quests that each team had to complete in Old Town (Kota Tua) of Jakarta.
The task also required teams to post their tasks on their respective Instagram accounts. Read on to see what our team did and to find out if we won the race.
#Q1: Post an Instagram photo with one of Jakarta’s public transportation (taxis are not one of them!).
#Q2: Post an Instagram photo with one of the famous landmarks in the Old Town (Kota Tua) of Jakarta.
#Q3: Post an Instagram photo with Indonesia’s Traditional Puppet (Wayang).
#Q4: Post an Instagram photo with street performers.
#Q5: Post an Instagram photo with Indonesian food.
#Q6: Post an Instagram video about your team’s AirAsia Fun Race.
Woah! This whole day activity was absolutely tiring yet equally fun! Good thing there’s still time to freshen up for the Gala Dinner. Everyone was encouraged to wear their national costumes but not compulsory. Here is the Philippine entourage.
And here is our team.
I didn’t bring a costume this time around but my dress which has many sunflowers all over it represents the “sunny” disposition of my country. LOL.
And this is the AirAsia PR Team headed by Audrey Petriny. It was my first time to meet everybody and I am just happy to be a part of this team since everyone is so nice and accommodating.
So… After all the AABC 2016 activities, festivities, and submission of entries, it’s time to announce the winner. Of course, there will only be 1 winner and it was… Us!!!
I truly believe that the mannequin challenge video was what clinched the top prize for us. Good job, team! Our winning photo was posted in AirAsia’s Travel3Sixty inflight magazine for February.
It was all fun under the sun with them!
