If you’re a fan of Lewis Carroll’s children’s classic Alice in Wonderland like me and have been greatly entertained by the first live-action film that was released back in 2010, then you no doubt have to come to cinemas to enjoy the second installment of this franchise.
An early preview of Alice Through the Looking Glass
I was fortunate enough to attend an advanced screening of this film entitled, Alice Through the Looking Glass, together with my family. Since #TheDreys’ idea of recreation and family fun normally includes movie watching, I figured that this film was most definitely a great way to spend some family bonding time.
Without giving away too much of the film, this most anticipated sequel features returning actors from the first installment — Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and of course, everybody’s favorite character actor… Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter.
Franchise newcomer and all around funny guy, Sacha Baron Cohen adds more color to an already very colorful cast and story. This time around, “Alice Through the Looking Glass” is directed by James Bobin, while former director, Tim Burton, sits in as producer.
The story revolves around Alice returning to Underland to save her friend, the Mad Hatter, by traveling back in time to solve the riddle of what happened to his family.
It was such a hit with my kids who were able to watch the first film because “Alice Through the Looking Glass” is pretty much an origin story. It explains how things came to be in present time Underland. You will also find the answers to some of the questions you’ve probably been asking yourself during the first film. “Alice Through the Looking Glass” also chronicles what led to the Red Queen becoming so wicked.
My kids loved the film and were so engrossed watching it. And since we saw “Alice Through the Looking Glass” in IMAX, the experience was incredibly immersive. It felt like we were pulled into Underland ourselves.
Alice Through the Looking Glass – A great film for kids and the kids at heart
If you’ve been meaning to see a film with your kids that is as equally entertaining as it is exciting, no doubt, “Alice Through the Looking Glass” is one movie you shouldn’t miss. The mesmerizing (and cutting-edge) 3D graphics will really amaze you! Younger ones will be drawn not just to the colors of Underland’s environment, but the animated characters we’ve already come to know from the first movie.
It doesn’t even matter if you haven’t seen the first installment of this franchise yet (although it helps a lot more if you did). “Alice Through the Looking Glass” is every bit as wondrous as when we first visited Underland with Alice 6 years ago.
“Alice Through the Looking Glass” is in cinemas now. Don’t miss it!
