Whenever I crave for comfort food, Chinese has always been my default go-to cuisine. Perhaps because I grew up eating Chinese food since my mom is actually Chinese (Yes! It doesn’t show, though). In fact, noodles have always been a staple in our house. I guess the way I associate the familiar flavor profile of Chinese dishes to home is why I am partial to it.
It’s a good thing my kids enjoy eating Chinese food as much as I do. Unfortunately, there’s one member of our family that isn’t too keen on this kind of cuisine – my husband! He would rather go for American, Japanese or Italian dishes any given day. So, when I told him we were trying out a new Chinese restaurant called, Yumchee, I kind of expected that he wouldn’t be too excited.
So, off we went to Yumchee even if the husband was obviously “iffy”.
Yumchee is a Chinese fast food + take-out restaurant located at Bonifacio Stopover which opened late last year. Bonifacio Stopover is slowly gaining popularity and one of the go-to places of yuppies as of late.
You will notice that offerings at Yumchee will remind you of dishes in Hong Kong if you’ve been there. Congee, dimsum, noodle soup… No frills, affordable Chinese comfort food.
Delicious offerings at Yumchee, Bonifacio Stopover
We started with some dimsum and specialty drinks. The varieties of dimsum were all priced the same at Php85.00 per order. For its price, I was surprised to find plump shrimps in them.Pork Shrimp Siomai
Beancurd Shrimp Roll
For cold drinks, we enjoyed the Iced Lemon Tea, Iced Milk Tea + Jelly and Iced Milk Tea + Pearl. They pair well with any Yumchee meal. (Medium: Php69.00 | Large: Php78.00)
We indulged in some Noodle Soup (Php159.00) as well, particularly the Beef Brisket, Beef Brisket + Wanton and Wanton.
Tender and flavorful beef briskets in one bowl with just the right amount of noodles.
Choose from a variety of fruit variants. We opted for the mango + kiwi. It made for a really pleasant meal-ender.
Yumchee also has set meals if you’re on a budget. That’s (1) main dish + (1) side that comes with soup. And for an additional Php50.00, you get any medium Specialty Drink.
Because of Yumchee, we know have more dining options to choose from. It’s an option that offers good food and is friendly on the pocket. It goes without saying that I was one happy camper that evening.
If you haven’t yet, make sure to give Yumchee a try. They won’t disappoint.
