Hatch 22 at the Rockwell Power Plant Mall serves gourmet breakfast food among others. You can start by choosing the bread of your choice. But this customize-your-own-bread-basket was prepared for our brunch invitation:
Pan de Month (this bread will always be Pan de Regla to me), Pandesal, Cheddar Milk Biscuit, Spanish Bread and Spicy Pimiento Bearclaw with Queso de Bola butter and Blueberry Jam.
You can choose from their selection of pour-over coffees, Hatch 22 Blend or from an assortment of teas to partner with your freshly baked bread.
For brunch, we were served some of the Hatch Brunch Specials and Between 2 Breads selections.
The Hatchwich (Php425.00)
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating this sandwich will sustain your energy the whole morning. The Hatchwich can also double as your post-workout meal. Packed with pastrami, forest ham, salami, pancetta, whole grain mustard, cheddar and marinated olive salad in seared multi-grain loaf. If you have a small appetite, this can be shared by 2 people. A very satisfying meal!
NYOB or Not Your Ordinary Benedicts (Php445. 00)
True to its name, Hatch 22’s NYOB is not your typical Eggs Ben. The torched hollandaise sauce gives the NYOB a whole different character. And instead of just pouring the hollandaise sauce on top, it was also spread on the plate smothering the fresh baked rustic muffins with the mother sauce absorbing its light lemony and buttery flavors. It is also topped with wild mushrooms, Italian ham and sautéed spinach. Letting the yolk of the sous vide egg run all over the plate doubled the fun!
Croque Maserati (Php580.00)
Seared salmon fillet chunks atop an open faced brioche toast and soaked in hollandaise and shrimp bisque sauce gives this dish a slightly strong flavor but the lemon thyme oil offers that refreshing and clean finish. Topped with black caviar for some sexiness. The sous vide egg on the side is to die for, by the way!
Slum Dog Millionaire (Php620.00)
Omelette or quiche or frittata are just simple dishes. But this version was made extraordinary using a play on contrasting flavors of different ingredients: Black Tiger Prawn, pineapple, kaffir lime, peppers and red coconut curry. It is served straight from the pan keeping it warm. With poppadum crisps and grilled naan bread as an accompaniment. Truly, Indian food bursts with rich flavors and my Strawberry Bellini was the perfect drink to wash all of it down with.
But Hatch 22 also serves wonderfully concocted cocktail drinks to match some of their offerings.
Strawberry Mango Belini (Php260.00)
Blushing Mistress (Php320.00)
Hatch & Balls (Php250.00)
Isn’t this awesome? It’s just Calamansicello, Rosemary Syrup and Noliprat but the amazingly attractive ice ball makes this cocktail drink a scene stealer. Just sip through the ice ball and voila! You have a very cool drink right there!
Prefer something non-alcoholic? Order this Hatch Southern Sweet Tea (Php95.00).
The grilled taste of the lemon mixed with the flavor of the cinnamon and tea is fantastic!
If you are a breakfast person or you love to eat breakfast anytime of the day, head on over to Hatch 22. You can also stay a little longer for some delicious cocktails with friends. Cool place!
