Manos Greek Taverna

(This is part 4 of the 4-part “Pop Talk” blog series)

So, for Pop Talk’s “Final Verdict”, they chose Manos Greek Taverna.  A venue very near Estancia Resort Hotel.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the owner himself, Mr. Manos Sapountzakis, who was very warm and hands-on in his restaurant.

As the “Pop Talk” team were setting up the place, Mr. Manos Sapountzakis and his staff were busy preparing some of his authentic Greek dishes for us to sample.  I learned that the owner is personally in-charge of the menu and prepares his own yogurt.

Check out the food!

There’s Shawarma, Souvlaki (Potato Fries, Cabbage Salad and 2 Stick of Grilled Pork), Saganaki (Baked Shrimps in Tomato Sauce with Feta Cheese), Greek Salad, Greek Patties, Grilled Porkchops & Pasticcio (Baked Macaroni with Bechamel Sauce).  I realized that the Pasticcio was not freshly baked.  It was obviously frozen and was just heated in a microwave.  But there’s one dish that I really enjoyed…

My favorite: Spanakopita!  A dish made of Spinach, Feta Cheese, Onion Leaves and deep fried using Olive Oil.  It has a very thin wrapper and was extremely stuffed.  I love how I smothered my  Spanakopita with lots of garlic-yogurt sauce – it was so good!

The 3 of us! It looked like our last meal! Smile

With Pop Talk host, Tonipet Gaba and his girlfriend!

But wait, there’s more!  Before leaving Tagaytay, I had to use their toilet.  I decided not to take a picture of the toilet itself… ummm, let’s just say I’ll leave the imagining to you! 🙂

The “not-so-clean” toilet

Food was great but the place was unkempt.  The overall experience would’ve been better had the place been well maintained.  Kinda makes you think of how they actually prepare their food, hmmm?  Confused smile
